FANTASIA’s song Collard Greens and Cornbread has been on REPEAT ever since I first heard it. Lord, that child can SANG! Just when I think I'm getting rid of my southern accent, it pulls me back in---haaaaa!
When I was growing up, Bruce Springsteen was THE BOSS. Today, there are a few artists claiming to be the real HBIC. Sure, there’s room for all of us to be in charge BUT when it comes to the music, who is really THE BOSS?
Man! I haven’t done this in a while…but it's a must-know amongst music lovers, so here you go. Excuse me for a moment----it’s a SHAME Billboard.com does NOT keep their albums sales charts updated (they really should be embarrassed).
My sister used to watch this movie almost every day, I can’t blame her because the movie is a CLASSIC. Patrick Dempsey is such a great actor. The remake with Nick Cannon and Christina Milian was not nearly as good as the original but it was a decent effort. Can’t Buy Me Love should be in everyone’s DVD collection.
"RON I" hasn’t missed a step…you young R&B cats could learn a thing or two. I don’t respect anyone who can’t perform LIVE. Just because you are on everybody’s song doing hooks doesn’t mean you are talented---don’t let these young girls fool you. Okay, back to Ron I, the song is classic!

The WEST ruled the music world with the help of NWA, TUPAC SHAKUR, ICE-T, SNOOP, and other rap phenoms. Whenever we heard someone yell, WESTSIDE, we all knew the WEST was inthe building and we all gave respect. Today, the SOUTH is on top BUT can these rappers bring the WEST back to the top…
Today is the ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of BRILLION-A-MILLION! I never thought I would have this much fun blogging. I truly appreciate each and every one of you for stopping by and sharing my vision with me. I want to give a special thanks to Darrell, he's my best friend, brother, partner in crime, ride or die, etc, etc....haaaaa! Again, I thank you ALL!!! Much love and respect.
Chelsea is one of the funniest people on TV. I was wondering who was going to host the MTV Music Awards this year, and I’ll admit, I never considered Chelsea. MTV really knows what they are doing over there---some other awards shows need to take notes.
Wow! It’s amazing what you can find on the internet. Anyway, I wasn't familiar with James Fauntleroy until I discovered him on Youtube. Not only is he a great writer but he is also a really good singer too (I posted some demos he recorded for a few artists). The dude is simply phenomenal. Check out some of his writing credits:
Listening to songwriter's demos always fascinates me. I knew there were some Johnta Austin demos floating around somewhere and I am so glad I found these because I really love Johnta's voice. I bet he's wishing he would have kept some of these songs for his own album...well, on second thought, keep getting that publishing money. That's where the real money is.
For those of you who want to be songwriters, doing a demo version of the song is the proper procedure--that's the only way the artists/labels will take you seriously. You can't expect to just write some lyrics on a sheet of paper and get a placement...
Unlike EVERYONE else in the blog world, I am not going to post the new Trey Songz&Nicki Minaj music video. Besides, if you know BET like I know BET, they are going to block the video (I give them 1 day to figure out all the media outlets are posting the video they premiered on 106&Park). Anyway, I decided to post these funny Trey Songz impersonations instead. Haaaaa!
When Pop-Soul music emerged, it exploded. The sound was fresh, catchy, and very influential. Unfornately, the emergence of NEW JACK SWING music took over the charts and pop soul music lost its popularity. But just when we thought pop soul music had faded away, the legendary Lauryn Hill brought pop soul music back with THE MISEDUCATION OF LAURYN HILL. Again, the movement went away with the absence of Lauryn but after a long hiatus, Amy Winehouse spear-headed the RETURN OF POP SOUL MUSIC. At the end of the day, it's clear pop soul music will never truly go away...
TEBOW is arguably the best college football ever to play the game. Some sports experts don’t think his game can translate to the professional level, well, THEY WERE WRONG…check out TEBOW’s NFL debut. Let’s gooooo…
Elvis Presley may be the most influential white soul singer to date but even with Elvis‘ success, there are not a lot of white R&B singers in today‘s market. Most white singers only see marginal success (with the exception of a few), and so they usually sing both Pop and R&B music. Do you think white R&B artists will ever get respect singing soul music?
When this list comes out every year, it’s either intriguing, depressing, or inspiring. For me, it’s the latter. But considering the financial state of this country, it’s probably more depressing for most of you. For all my go-getters out there, your time is coming…TRUST AND BELIEVE. If no one else believes in you, BRILLION-A-MILLION does.
