THE BEST OF KELLS: R. KELLY’S SOFTER SIDE

BIGGEST EXECUTIVE BREAK-UPS

We all know how hard it is for groups to stay together, usually the end result is, most of the group members go solo. BUT what happens when music EXECUTIVES break up? What side do the artists (caught in the middle) choose? It’s like a child caught in the middle of a divorce. Let’s examine hip hop’s biggest executive break-ups:

ROCAFELLA RECORDS
JAY Z, CEO
DAMON DASH, CEO

DEF JAM
JERMAINE DUPRI, HEAD OF URBAN DIVISION
LA REID, PRESIDENT

DIPSET RECORDS
JIM JONES, CEO
CAMRON, CEO

DEATH ROW RECORDS
DR. DRE, CEO
SUGE KNIGHT, CEO

WHERE ARE THEY NOW: FATHER MC

FATHER MC

Father MC (born Timothy Brown) was signed to Uptown Records. He’s most known for his hits TREAT EM LIKE THEY WANT TO BE TREATED, I’LL DO 4 U, and LISA BABY. Father MC was one of the first rappers to do hip hop and new jack swing rap. Having Jodeci and Mary J Blige didn’t hurt his cause either, his usage of soulful R&B hooks made he a strong force in the rap game.

TODAY, FATHER MC GOES BY THE NAME FAMBODY

DAME DASH MAKING A COMEBACK

Well, I said Dame is making a comeback but he’ll probably say he never left. After watching this video, I can’t WAIT to hear this album. Dame is gonna drop an album called BLAKROC, and I know it’s going to be HOT (we need a Hip Hop Soul album). Much love to Nicole Wray, hopefully she will FINALLY get the respect she deserves!

THE MICHAEL JACKSON INFLUENCE

MJ’s videos have been imitated by so many of today’s artists. Chris Brown’s video, Wall To Wall, is an imitation of MJ’s Thriller video. Usher’s U Remind Me video, is reminiscent of MJ’s The Way You Make Me Feel video. Honestly, the list goes on and on…MJ’s work will be FOREVER imitated BUT NEVER duplicated.

Here’s a few videos of Ginuwine, Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, Omarion, and Usher showing their RESPECT to the greatest entertainer EVER!

PAYING HOMAGE TO THE QUEEN

There’s only ONE Aretha Franklin! She is arguably the MOST INFLUENTIAL singer of all time. Her presence is so greatly felt throughout the ENTIRE industry. Even Jennifer Hudson sang NATURAL WOMAN unexpectedly during a live radio interview.

WELL, YOU CAN’T WIN EM ALL

These facts either show how competitive the music industry is or the Grammy voters are just WRONG (I think the latter). There is NO REASON why music legend Diana Ross should not have a Grammy award.

50 CENT14 Grammy Award nominations, 0 WINS

DIANA ROSS12 Grammy Award nominations, 0 WINS

WHERE ARE THEY NOW: SKEE LO

SKEE LO

Skee-lo - I wish

Donut

MySpace Video

Skee Lo, born Antoine Roundtree, is best known for his hit record I WISH. Skee Lo was nominated for 2 Grammy Awards (Best Rap Album & Best Solo Rap Performance), and he was also nominated for 3 Billboard Video Awards (Best New Artist, Best Clip of the Year, & Maximum Vision Clip of the Year).

Skee Lo’s style was very unique because he was a rapper from the Westside of Los Angeles that didn’t rap about the gangster life. Consequently, he rapped about comical issues, and so he stood out from the rest of the pack.

TODAY
Skee Lo is releasing an album this year entitled OVERDOSE. He also has his own record label called SKEELO MUSIK.
