Shabba Ranks (born Rexton Rawlston Fernando Gordon) is a Jamaican dancehall/reggae recording artist. He was the first dancehall artist to win a Grammy award. Although Shabba is best known for his big hit MR. LOVERMAN, Shabba released over 20 singles in his music career.
TODAY Shabba has recently made a comeback, and he is currently touring.
The following videos are my favorite Mary J Blige remakes, you can go on Youtube and check out Mary singing Etta James' AT LAST, Dorothy Moore's MISTY BLUE, and Janis Joplin's TAKE ANOTHER PIECE OF MY HEART.

I GUESS THAT’S WHY THEY CALL IT THE BLUES- Original singer Elton John
Monifah, born Monifa Carter, is a R&B singer who took the music industry by storm with her soulful, yet smooth vocals. Although Monifa was largely compared to Mary J Blige, she held her own with hit records like I Miss You (Come Back Home),Youand Touch It. Monifah’s latest album, Home, was released in 2000. The album was produced by music legend, Teddy Riley. To date, the album has sold over 200,000 copies.
Today, Monifah is still performing (mostly at local clubs in New York). Unfortunately, there isn’t any information about Monifah releasing another album anytime soon.
In the past few years, some solo artists have decided to form supergroups. Unfortunately, these supergroups usually dissolve before they get started. Obviously, the MAIN reason is a little thing called an EGO. Although, TGT and Omarion & Bow Wow’s supergroups didn’t work out---hopefully, Tamia, Kelly Price, and Deborah Cox will have better luck AND don’t forget about Fabolous, Ryan Leslie, and Ne Yo’s supergroup…BOW! Oh yeah, Lil Wayne and T-Pain are also doing an album together and Kanye West and Dream's album is set to be released in 2010, WE’LL SEE HOW THAT GOES…
Rapper Domino was expected to be the next big superstar in the rap game after his major hits Getto Jam (not ghetto) and Sweet Potato Pie. Domino was first West Coast artist to sign with Def Jam.
Since Domino’s appearance on the music scene, he has been blessed and fortunate, being able to have worked with some of the most prolific names in the movie industry. His display of credits include making musical tracks for motion picture, box office hits such asThe Mask, Clueless, Losing Isaiah, Tales From The Hood, The Show, and In Too Deep. Today, Domino is still touring and making music.
Janet Jackson To Release New Greatest-Hits Album, "Number Ones"
Janet Jackson will release a greatest-hits compilation called Number Ones on November 17. The 2-disc album will feature 33 songs, including her new song Make Me. I won’t name any names but I know SOMEONE is TOO HAPPY to hear this news, haaa!
These artists are still trying to escape their sibling’s shadow. Not everyone can be Janet Jackson! To be honest, if Janet can do it, ANYONE can, no one was/is more famous than her brother Michael. I almost put Ashlee Simpson on this list but I think she’s made a name for herself…(now, if you have to ask who her sister is, I don’t know if that’s a bad thing or good thing). Two years ago, Ray J would have made this list but he’s doing it BIG now, big ups to Ray---wait a minute, ain’t that…(you know the rest).
UPDATE: My brother Darrell brought it to my attention that I forgot about Dream and Tricky on this countdown! This is a result of doing the blog LATE---I gotta do better!!! I admit, I made a HUGE mistake, how could I forget my boys...in case you were wondering, I would have put them at #3!
Michael Vick announced that he'll be starring in a new reality show on BET in January. Recently, BET has developed pretty good reality shows and I’m sure this will be very interesting. No matter what, I support Vick and I wish him well.
This was one of the BEST and most creative commercials, EVER!!
Terrence Trent D’Arby released his first album in 1987. The album, Introducing the Hardline Accordingto Terrence Trent D’Arby, is his best-known and most successful work to date. The album, which produced hits like If You Let Me Stay, Wishing Well, and Sign Your Name, sold over 3million copies in the firstdays of its release, and its sales currently total over 13 million. His second album Neither Fish Nor Flesh: A Soundtrack of Love, Faith, Hope & Destruction was released in 1989---it sold over 2 millioncopies. Because of creative differences with his label, Terrence left Columbia Records and began releasing CDs in the UK.
In 2001, Terrance legally changed his name to Sananda Maitreya and he’s released three albums with his independent label Treehouse Pub.
Today, Maitreya is still touring and his album, Nigor Mortis, was released this year.
Rapper Shawnna has left DTP for T-Pain’s Nappy Boy record label. I guess this means there will be NO Luda/Shawnna album this year. Either way, I wish Shawnna the BEST, she is REALLY talented. Check out the video!!
In a new issue of NME , Jay Z said Michael Jackson sang background vocals on his mega hit Girls, Girls, Girls. “He was on my song ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’, singing these background vocals and I didn’t even put his name on it,” Jay wrote---sorry, but I don’t hear MJ on this song, and I listened to it several times. Can you hear MJ on this song? Well, I remembered that the song also had a remix, and so I loaded the remix version of Girls Girls Girls but I STILL DON'T HEAR MJ!
Where would their labels be without these artists? I’m sure we ALL know the answer to that…they are truly the MICHAEL JORDAN of their labels. I’m wondering what’s going on with Rocafella? Jay Z is repping Roc Nation but Kanye West, Memphis Bleek, Beanie, and Freeway are STILL on Rocafella???? Anyway, I posted this because rumors are circulating that Bad Boy Records is done! Although Bad Boy recently jumped ship and signed with Interscope this week, people are saying that the deal was not for a lot of money and those circumstances left a lot of Bad Boy staff without a job….well, I hope this isn’t true, Diddy is a mogul and he has a GREAT love for music. He KNOWS music wouldn’t be music without BAD BOY! As we proceed…to give you what you need!
